50s red + black houndstooth wool velvet coat Milgrim Forstmann Seymour Fox

This swing coat is so Christmas-y. Fully lined with a plush black rayon velvet! One of my favroite labels, Milgrim. 1950s red and black houndstooth Forstmann wool swing coat with lines of velvet piping aorund the front neckline. Large rounded collar lined with velvet. Velvet buttons up the front neckline. Raglan sleeves. Piping trimmed slit pockets. Arms are lined with a black satin crepe.

condition: coat has minor flaws which are not noticeable, many are easily repairable, such as loose seams and a couple small darns. I made a list of the repairs with the intent to fix everything and it is as follows: a couple loose seams where velvet meets wool, the left underarm lining seam is loose, and the right pocket seam at top. Darns: small hole back neck, small hole back right bottom and a couple more tiny holes when held to light, but these are not noticeable. Very minor – lining was attached to a couple strings along hem, has detached. On close inspection there is wear to the corner of the velvet lining on one side of the collar, but this is not visible while wearing. Not an issue, but the velvet lining is hand-stitched to the wool and you can see the stitches. Again, not visible while wearing. Just an FYI, but you will probably have to adjust the buttons at the neck if buttoning the coat up – it was tight on the mannequin – there is room to move buttons over.
