1940s blue wool crepe + black velvet dress jacket set (as-is)

(Sorry about the wrinkles, selling this set as-is). 1940s striking and unusual blue wool crepe dress and jacket set with black velvet trim. Dress is formfitting, high neckline with a keyhole opening at the chest. black velvet trim around the collar and decorated with lines of black velvet buttons. Pleated left hip swag with an angled flare of velvet trim and buttons. Side metal zipper. Jacket has elbow-length sleeves with velvet cuffs. Velvet also trims the collar and lapels of the jacket, down to the hem. Exaggerated pointed collar. Both dress and jacket are unlined.

condition: from the repair pile and selling as-is. Very cute two-piece set that is wearable with issues – see last photos. The set has not been dry cleaned and there are stains which may lessen with a cleaning – spot-cleaning with eucalon could help since this is a wool crepe. The worst is on the top edge of the right sleeve which has turned into a frayed hole. A string of small brown spots on the skirt’s side pleated hip swag. The underarms on the dress are blotchy. Jacket underarms do not have issues. Several moth holes on the skirt of the dress, see last photos. Most are near the hem and the worst are near the hem at the pleated swag. Small moth hole on the back left shoulder of the jacket. Still a great set in a rare color – worth repairing.
